A dedicated wireless system is very expensive and the additional condition is that you depend a lot on what is done in the mixer to receive the mix you want. StageWave solved that problem for us with something very simple.

Band DirectorNow the musicians, by themselves, make their mix. And that gives me independence to focus only on two areas: sound for the room and for streaming.

Guido Ochoa
Sound EngineerThe challenge
The church Encuentro con Cristo is one of the largest congregations in the Ñuñoa area (Santiago, Chile). With five bands of musicians and singers that rotate weekly in the services, they faced acoustic challenges due to the great reverberation of their venue, an old theater. Although they have treated acoustically critical areas, the room mix and the streaming mix required precise adjustments.
Before StageWave, they used floor monitors and wired monitoring systems in mono, where musicians could only adjust the general volume. The sound engineer focused on the room mix and the floor monitors, leaving little time for the streaming mix or individual in-ear monitor adjustments.
The solution
They implemented StageWave alongside a Midas M32 console, connected to a 2012 MacBook Pro. To ensure stability, they installed industrial network wiring from the console to the stage, where they placed a Xiaomi AX9000 router for wireless connection of the singers. In addition, they laid three wired network lines under the stage for musicians such as pianists and drummers, keeping the stage clean and with a reliable connection.
The adoption of the system was gradual. Musicians with more experience helped their less familiar colleagues with technology by copying mixes and tutorials, achieving a smooth and effective transition.
Results
Personalized monitoring for the entire band
Musicians now have full control over their monitoring, adjusting their mixes without depending on the sound engineer. Now, each musician defines what and how they want to hear, which has optimized audio tests and improved their performance and experience on stage.
An impeccable stage and room mix
By reducing floor monitors, the church achieved a cleaner stage, minimizing acoustic contamination. It also allowed the sound engineer to focus entirely on the room and streaming mix.
Conclusion
The church Encuentro con Cristo transformed its live monitoring system with StageWave. This solution allowed them to optimize the acoustics on stage and provide musicians with the freedom to personalize their sound.
